As we celebrate Valentine’s Day, here are some thoughts on relationships to reflect on.
- Keep people in your life who
- Truly love you
- Motivate you
- Encourage you
- Appreciate you
- Inspire you
- Enhance you
- Make you happy
- Love is not about dating or sex. It’s about being with a person who makes you happy in a way nobody else can.
- Never underestimate the power of
- A touch
- A smile
- A kind word
- A listening ear
- An honest compliment
- The smallest act of caring
We all need people with these attributes in our lives and who are also
generous with them. You may be quite surprised at what wonders a little hug can
work.
- It is important to bear in mind if you are spending this Valentine’s Day alone that being alone does not mean you are lonely, and being lonely does not mean you are alone.
- Never try to fix a relationship that is toxic because some relationships are like glass. It’s better to leave it broken than to hurt yourself by trying to put it back together.
- Be observant in your relationships. If not, you may miss the messages in silence because silence is often the loudest cry. Pay attention to those you care about.
- In your relationships are you readily available?
- Are you there to hold a hand?
- Are you the one who lends the listening ear?
- Are you the one with the heart that understands?
- It is not rocket science to understand that true happiness really does come from within, not from someone else or some other material thing. It is futile to wait on someone or something to come along and make you happy.
- When it comes to relationships, actions really do speak louder than words. Don’t ignore someone you care about, because a lack of concern hurts more than angry words. If you love someone, tell them. Never pass up on an opportunity to tell someone that you care about them.
- We have all heard the saying – “Honesty is the best policy.” This is so important in any relationship.
- Don’t say “I understand” if you have no clue.
- Don’t say “I’m sorry” if you’re not.
- Be honest with those you care about.
- They say – “Love makes the world go round” and indeed it does.
Love is such a beautiful thing. It is humans that turn it ugly. Love truly doesn’t hurt. It is the lying, cheating, pretence, deceit, disloyalty, jealousies, possessiveness and all negative aspects of human nature that bring about the hurt.
- Relationships thrive on faithfulness, mutual respect and trust. Without these, you are living a lie.
- When it comes to your relationship with others always bear in mind that
- Respect is earned.
- Honesty is appreciated.
- Trust is gained.
- Loyalty is returned.
Every person walking this earth has their personal cross to carry. Nobody gets through life without losing people they love or without being disappointment by people. This is what makes life interesting. Rather than bemoan events and things that happen in our lives, we should learn from them and get on with living.
- You can’t go through life counting all the wrongs and wearing them like a badge of honour. You are only hurting yourself physically, mentally and spiritually, and no other person.
Note that:
-
- The first to apologise is the bravest.
- The first to forgive is the strongest.
- The first to move forward is the happiest.
- Be the friend that you want to have.
HAVE A HAPPY VALENTINE.
