The Sierra Leone Investment and Export Promotion Agency has donated Le20 million to President Dr Ernest Bai Koroma as the organization’s contribution in the fight against Ebola in Sierra Leone.
SLIEPA Chief Executive Raymond Gbekie, who handed over a cheque for the amount to President Koroma at a colourful ceremony at State House, accompanied it with large amounts of rice and palm oil.
Gbekie told President Koroma that the donation was to complement government’s efforts in the ongoing fight against Ebola.
Raymond Gbekie is well known for his humanitarian spirit.
Last year when irate youths in his home district of KONO took swords, cutlasses and other offensive weapons to viciously try to slaughter rival Kono youths in politically inspired, nonsensical violence, it was Mr. Gbekie who sought help from United Nations to lead a team of peace promoters to Kono district to mentor Kono youths.
Raymond Gbekie is the younger brother of the late AIG of Police, Mr. Tamba Pujeh Gbekie, and continues to carry the family name sky-high, it was therefore no surprise when President Koroma appointed him to head SLIEPA.
