Rivers: APC leaders raise alarm over politically motivated killings

All Progressives Congress (APC) has raised the alarm over alleged new politically motivated killings in Rivers state.

Led by the Deputy National Chairman (South) of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Engr. Segun Oni, party leaders addressed a press conference at the APC National Secretariat in Abuja on the continued spate of politically-motivated killings, intimidation and persecution of APC members in Rivers State under the watch of the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Party leaders also decried the level of impunity in the Rivers State House of Assembly. Despite a December 23, 2015, Court of Appeal ruling upholding the election of an APC member, Hon. Victoria Wobo Nyeche, to represent Port Harcourt 1 Constituency of Rivers State and a Certificate of Return issued by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) thereafter, the Rivers State House of Assembly has refused to administer Oath-of-Office to her.

In attendance at the press briefing held Monday night were: APC Deputy National Chairman (South), Engr. Segun Oni; APC Deputy National Secretary, Orji Ugofa; Rivers State APC Chairman, Dr. Davies Ibiamu Ikanya, Rivers State House of Assembly member representing Portharcourt 1 Constituency of Rivers State, Hon. Victoria Wobo Nyeche and former member of the 7th House of Representatives from Rivers state, Hon. Andrew Igbonule Uchendu.
