Police Prosecutor Sergeant 5984 I. G. Fofanah, prosecuting a prison officer for rape, has appealed to the trial magistrate for more time to enable him interview the victim.
Fofanah assured the Magistrate Komba Kamanda that she would be ready to open case at the next adjourned date.
She disclosed that the correctional officer was caught in the act while sexually penetrating the 11-year-old girl on October 26, 2014 at Beccle Lane, Brookfields, west of Freetown.
Magistrate Kamanda upheld her request and refused the accused bail.
The matter was adjourned to 24 November.
Prison Officer James Toby was last week remanded at the Male Correctional Centre on Pademba Road for an alleged sexual penetration of an underaged girl.
The accused was arraigned at the Freetown Magistrates’ Court No.2, presided over by Magistrate Kamanda, on one count of sexual penetration, contrary to section 19 of the Sexual Offences Act No.12 of 2012.
