Police Arrest Eight Armed Robbery Suspects In Jalingo


Taraba State Command of Nigeria Police has arrested suspected armed robbery gang that broke into the house of the state commissioner of Agriculture on January 22, 2016 situated at Mile Six Jalingo and made away with items which included Toyota Camry Valued at Seven Million Naira, IPAD Valued at One Hundred and Eighty Thousand Naira and IPhone valued at one hundred and eighty thousand naira. Others were Samsung Galaxy valued at One Hundred and Eighty Five Thousand Naira, Wrist Watch valued at one Hundred thousand naira, UBA and GT Banks ATM cards and sum cash of three hundred thousand naira.

The state commissioner of Police Shaba Alkali while briefing newsmen said in the course of investigation, one Alhaji Abba Yusuf (Receiver) was arrested. He said on interrogation the receiver confessed that he bought the stolen vehicle at the sum of eight hundred thousand Naira and took it to Garwa, the Republic of Cameroon where he sold it at the sum of One Million Five Hundred Thousand Naira.

The Commissioner of Police stated that one Bani Kingsley Bitrus confessed to have drove the vehicle from Jalingo to Yola where it was disposed to the receiver and that at the point of arrest, he was searched and the sum of Sixty Thousand Naira was recovered as part of his share. Other suspects included in the scene are Ambrose Usman, Apaji Kefas, Ishaku Danghee, Itrus Danjuma, John Gabriel, and Jerry Peter while others are at large. Items recovered in the hands of the receiver, Alhaji Abba Yusuf include Cash sum of Two Hundred Thousand Naira, Fifty Five Thousand France and two Hundred Cent of Cameroon Republic and Garwa resident permit of Cameroon republic in an interview with the receiver, Alhaji Abba Yusuf, said he bought the vehicle from somebody in Jalingo at the sum of Nine Hundred Thousand Naira and latter took it to Garwa in Cameroon where he sold it at one point five Million Naira. He added that he was caught by the security when he was trying to buy another stolen vehicle in Yola.

The Police also arrested two vehicles used by the robbery for their operation with registration number JMT 964 MD, Toyota Sterlet Model and Lau 50/AA Golf Wagon Model.
