Life is about making choices. The choices we make can be good or bad for us. Whatever choice we make tends to have a domino effect because they lead to a chain of events which may be good or bad for us.
Thinking through the possible decision before we act can save us much sorrow and suffering. Bad choices or decisions can have a disastrous effect on our lives.
How can we make good decisions?
When I heard these things, I sat down and wept. For some days I mourned and fasted and prayed before the God of heaven. – Nehemiah 1:4
Prayer is an essential resource in good decision-making. This is the right way to go because one must – Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He will make your paths straight. – Proverbs 3: 5-6
Heartfelt prayers can clarify any problem we may be facing with clear directions on the steps we should take to resolve the problem.
However, when we turn to God to help us make the right decisions, we must ask with the full conviction that he will hear and answer us. Any state of mind different from this will not give the desired result because as James tells us: But let him ask in faith, without any doubting—for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. For that person must not suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord — he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways. – James 1: 6-8
Through prayer, God will help us to make the right choices – He will keep in perfect peace all those who trust in Him, whose thoughts turn often to the Lord. – Isiah 26:3
