A desperate housewife, Sylvia Katete, anxious to continuing enjoying a warm matrimonial bed, has sprang to the defense of her husband accused of defiling his 14-year-old niece and infecting her with a sexually transmitted disease.
Contributing to Divo Katete’s defence before Principal Kitwe Resident Magistrate Ikechukwu Iduma in Kitwe, Zambia Wednesday (Jan 28) Sylvia insisted: “My husband is not capable of defiling his niece because he is sexually satisfied by me”.
Besides, she told the court, “I’m a degree holder in psychology and could have noticed any behaviour change in the girl if she was defiled by my husband at the time she visited us during Christmas holidays”.
Katete, former Mayor of Kitwe is charged for defiling the niece following several bouts of sex with the 14-year-old between December 2012 and December 2013.
Opening his defence earlier, Katete told the court, “niece is like a daughter to me and I could not have had sex with her”.
Katete narrated that in December 2012, the girl and her brother visited his place for Christmas holidays and that the family had a braii party where other relatives were also invited.
“After the Christmas holidays, the girl and the brother went back to their father’s home in Mufulira and that after some time I was shocked to hear that the girl was alleging that I had sex with her”
Katete added that his wife was pregnant at the time he is accused of defiling the girl and that as a couple, they never suffered from any STD which the girl accused him of infecting her with.
