Looking beautiful goes beyond the makeup and clothes we wear. They can be washed off or replaced. However we can’t say the same for our skin. The skin is a delicate, living organ and should be treated with the utmost precaution.
Not enough of us look after our skin, most of us ignore the fact that it’s imperative for us to be familiar with our skin type and we use beauty products without knowing if they are right for us.
Did you know, for example, your beauty routine should consist of cleansing, toning and moisturizing? This routine helps to clear out all signs of dirt, oil and residual makeup. Just washing your face isn’t enough!
Study the following skin types and get accustomed to the products that are right for you.
DRY SKIN:
With dry skin, your face will look dehydrated with mild flaking and a slight tightness in the feel of the skin. In more serious cases, symptoms like; severe itching, red or white patches of skin, cracking, bleeding and severe tightness and pain. The increase in tightness can lead to wrinkles of the face before time.

OILY SKIN:
With oily skin, your face will have a visible shine (especially by mid-day), and visible features like large pores and acne. Oily skin is very common for people in their teens and early 20’s. Black people tend to have oily skin as a result of our diets that are full of fried foods or that are high in fatty acids. The skin is very sensitive when it’s oily, and when problems like acne start to appear its better to avoid harsh products because the results are CATASTROPHIC.

NORMAL SKIN:
If you don’t have a problem with oil or break outs, and you don’t feel your skin is dry and tight, then you are lucky you probably fall into the normal skin type range. Although skin types change over time and season, subject to where you live and how you look after your skin. So stick with a good beauty routine and have normal skin all year round.
