Former Super Eagles goalkeeper Wilfred Agbonavbare has finally succumbed to the dreaded ailment, cancer. The Tunisian 1994 gold winning keeper reportedly died earlier this morning at the Prince of Asturias Hospital in Alcalá de Henares Spain.
His former club Rayo Vallecano of Spain confirmed the development few hours ago on their website. Willy Agbonibasket as he was fondly called during his hay days has been down with the dreaded ailment for a long time. He was taken to the United States for treatment until recently when he was brought to Spain where his former club Rayo Vallecano took over his medical care.
Only last weekend the Spanish side helped raise 21,106.90 euros (over N4.5m) to help the cancer stricken retired goalkeeper.
His wife of many years had also succumbed to cancer three years ago, leaving behind young children.
