Ebira monarch urges Bello on fairness to all

The Paramount Ruler of Ebira Land, The Ohinoyi, His Royal Majesty, Alhaji Ado Ibrahim, has asked the Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello to be fair to all his subjects and demonstrate the highest level of equity.

The Royal Father said this while welcoming the governor to his palace at the weekend when the governor paid a visit to his hometown of Okene. He said the people of the entire district are proud of the governor because of his courage to stand against all odds.

Alhaji Ibrahim appealed to the governor to do things differently from his predecessors in order to impact on the lives of the people in the state.

“You are a governor of all Kogi State; either Okun, Igala or Ebira. And that is why you must do things differently from others,” he stated.

The Monarch, then, appealed to the people of the state to remain law-abiding as well as respect constituted authority.

Alhaji Bello vowed to prosecute anyone indicted in the on-going staff verification exercise, saying that those involved in the act will face the full wrath of the law.

He said that he met the state that is facing severe financial, social and infrastructural challenges such as backlog of salary arrears to civil servants, huge debt burdens, insecurity and deteriorated infrastructure. He added that his administration decided to embark on quick wins to some of the challenges, which has started yielding results, while others will take some more time to mature.

Governor Bello lamented the subversion of the state work force by some dubious elements disclosing that there was the temptation to use the available funds to do some legitimate work but the welfare of workers must be prioritized, hence the payment of two month salaries within a space of two months of assumption of office. He said the construction and rehabilitation of roads as well as drainages are continuing in the state adding that his administration will place the state in much better stead than as he met it.

A large crowd of well wishers with much ovation and dancing received the governor.
