MOVIE
FIFTY SHADES OF GREY
St. Dakota Johnson, Jamie Dornan, Jennifer Ehle, et al.
Talking about a week when Amber Rose finished off the entire kardashian household including Kanye West her ex, it appeared no other story was going to push this aside, but with a movie budget of $40 million USD, fifty Shades of Grey’s $85 million USD weekend gross at the box office (US) is a story worth our time. It dusted “Kingman: The secret service” which had a budget of $81 million USD. Fifty Shades of Grey has so far grossed $300 million USD globally.
It is the story of a literature student, Anastasia Steele whose life changed totally when she met billionaire Christian Grey. Handsome, yet tormented, Christian. Kudos to author E.L. James James, who wrote the best selling erotic trilogy. Facts emerge she doesn’t want it tainted by Universal studios and insists on writing the sequel herself.

DAZZLING MIRAGE
St. ‘Kunle Afolayan, Kemi ‘Lala’ Akindoju, Taiwo Ajayi-Lycett, Tosin Bucknor, et al.
The sickle cell sufferer story of the everyday experience is clearly depicted by this movie. Everyday you see one carrier smile know that behind that smile is a story that you cannot understand because you are not in his/her shoes. Dazzling Mirage is a love story, betrayal and loyalty. It aims to help raise awareness about the sickle cell condition and to help people make better informed decisions. With this movie, you don’t need to be an “SS” to help change the way the society looks at these people (1 out of every 500 black births globally has the sickle cell disease). Join the movement, it starts by watching this movie. And by the way, it’s such a joy to watch Aunty Taiwo Ajayi-Lycett again.
On a Scale of 0 – 10, the Movie is a 5.5.
MUSIC
ONE LAST TIME
Ariana Grande
When Drake has four songs off his latest album debutting on Billboard’s hottest 100, you need more than self restraint to write about another artist. But, a listen to Ariana Grande’s “One Last Time”, makes the sin of pushing Drake aside forgivable. And like her lyrics in the song, “… I know I don’t deserve it, but stay with me a minute…”
Written by David Guetta and four others, this track is the fourth song off her second album, “My Everything” released in 2014. Controversies surrounded the video dropped earlier this week, when SAFIA (Ben Woolner, Michael Bell and Harry Sayers), took issue with Ariana’s clip, which the band members in their words said, “reworked the concept a little bit and then straight up stolen and copied some bits… This might just be coincidence but to us it looks like either the people at Ariana Grande’s label or the film maker have seen our clip for ‘You Are The One’ & reworked the concept a little bit and then straight up stolen and copied some bits…(ESPECIALLY THE END!)… Wouldn’t be the first time uncreative talentless fucks from big labels and/or big film firms steal ideas from small independent creatives who are trying really hard to make something different for a change.”
But when received death threats via social media the group changed its tone. On facebook they posted, “…really weird 72 hours and things have escalated very quickly regarding the Ariana Grande video situation,” the new post reads adding that “there’s no way of ever proving whether Ariana’s clip was influenced by ‘You Are The One’ and it genuinely may have just been a coincidence… We’re not after Ariana, Max or their label either, we were simply voicing our concerns in what is sometimes a common occurrence in the music industry.”

JAMB QUESTION
Simi
I can’t remember the first time I heard this pretty young ‘thang’ sing, but I remember her voice wowed me. And being with a management that radiates quality and passion, X3M? She will definitely go places. Now let’s get to the song, “JAMB QUESTION”. The ability of her crew to make her voice which is her strength the focus of the tune is a success. The song reminds me of a day I went to LASU as an undergrad’ from UNIBEN to ‘catch’ a chic… omo come see one “omo mummy” staying with her for over 15 minutes and when I moved closer to hear what they were talking about, the dude was asking her if she watched some movies on cable. Don’t ask me what I did next.
