As Nigeria’s e-commerce industry continue to witness huge growth, new range of products are gaining online listing, exploiting new markets that showcase great potentials. One of such markets is Abuja, which is yet to feel the pulse of the rise in e-commerce as Lagos, Nigeria’s commercial city remains the focus for e-commerce industry.
Ahia Online is one of the few start-ups ignoring the trend to set camp in Abuja, which is considered highly untapped. Its courageous move has landed it the position of Abuja’s first online grocery shop.
According to a statement by the retailer, “Abuja residents can now enjoy food shopping online and have their groceries delivered within 24 hours of purchase. A delivery fee of N300 is charged per order with free delivery on orders over N10,000.”
Since its launch on 30th June 2014, the online grocery store has enjoyed increasing patronage and is positioning itself to rival top brands including Jumia, Gloo.ng, Konga, etc. for market presence.
Ahiaonline plans to save regular grocery shoppers more time to simultaneously shop and attend to hectic schedules. This provides an option for shoppers to get their groceries in open markets and stalls.
The increasing rate of ICT use in the country has seen more Nigerians key into the growing global trend of online shopping, which has seen more ecommerce start-ups spring up.
In recent times, e-commerce had opened a wide range of opportunities for business growth with the ICT industry becoming a key growth driver of Nigeria’s economy.
